Abby + Lachy

14 Jan 2022
Waterton Hall, TAS

At 16, I had the honour of designing the florals for Abby and Lachlan’s wedding at Waterton Hall—a venue that epitomizes elegance and charm. Abby, who had once been my babysitter, had witnessed my early passion for florals. To now stand by her side on her wedding day was a poignant moment in my journey as a floral designer.

Their wedding was a vibrant fusion of cultures and love—a celebration that transcended borders and embraced the beauty of diversity. Abby and Lachlan's union brought together Malaysian, Indian, and Australian influences, creating a rich tapestry of traditions and colors. The ceremony featured batik prints, while the reception danced with Bollywood flair, reflecting the couple's shared journey and the blending of their heritages. The florals mirrored this vibrancy, with a cascade of colors that spoke to the joy and unity of the day. I also gravitate toward bold floral installations that make a statement — it's what I love most.

This wedding hit many milestones in my career as I get to work with my Mum once again as the Wedding Photographer which led the wedding to be featured on Polka Dot website (my first wedding featured!) but also a reminder of the enduring bonds that shape us. From a 12-year-old with a passion for florals to a 16-year-old crafting designs for a dear friend, each petal placed was a step towards realizing my dream. Abby and Lachlan's day was a celebration of love, culture, and the enduring bonds that shape us.
